Honors Research Concentration
Students in the MDiv. who are interested in further graduate study will find the Honors Research concentration of significant benefit to their development academically. This concentration of 35 hours allows the student and his or her faculty advisor to develop a personalize cluster of study that matches the career goals. To participate in this concentration, the student must:
- Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.4 after twenty-four hours and petition the Academic Dean for admission into this concentration after acquiring the agreement of a faculty member to serve as the research advisor; OR (b) Be nominated by a faculty member who will serve as the student’s research advisor.
- Design in collaboration with the faculty advisor a course of study that fits within the concentration and electives categories.
- Have the Academic Dean approve the selected course of study.
- Complete a thesis or other significant synthesizing project that reflects significant advancement in the selected field of study and readiness for advanced study.
As the student completes the requirements of this concentration, she or he will be able to:
Research Goal. Show skill in investigation and analysis of data in a selected field of study that could lead to more advanced research, writing, and teaching.
To show the achievement of the Research Goal, the student must:

- Define and describe the central themes of a selected field of study.
- Design and implement a master’s-level research project.
- Produce effective and accurate written communication.
