Master of Divinity: Evangelism
The evangelism concentration focuses particularly on the role and thrust of personal, institutional, and social evangelism in today's world. The concentration introduces the student to the major themes and concerns related to evangelism in today's world. The three practicums allows for a shift from an exclusive classroom learning environment to on-the-job learning by doing.
Evangelism Goal. Demonstrates effective and enthusiastic commitment to evangelistic and compassionate ministry and the ability to catalyze the local church for effective witness to the unchurched.
Objectives
To show the achievement of the Evangelism Goal, the student must:
- Apply a biblically rooted and theologically sound understanding of evangelism to the surrounding community through the local church.
- Lead the church in compassionate ministry that opens doors for the presentation of the gospel.
- Understand the Wesleyan contribution to evangelism and discipleship and adapts relevant practices to contemporary opportunities.
- Practice a strong discipleship emphasis subsequent to evangelism that leads toward the fully developed disciple, the sanctified life and a lifetime of service in the evangelistic endeavor of the church.
- Critically analyze evangelistic and compassionate endeavor in order to optimize personal and organizational effort.
- Passionately embrace the call of God to fulfill the Great Commission around the world.
