Program Structure
The Online program operates on a three-semester academic year. The Fall and Spring are traditional, 15-week semesters beginning in September and concluding in early May with breaks for the holidays. A 12-week Summer semester begins in May and runs through early August. The online program is designed to offer the M.Div. degree in this 3-semester format in 4 academic years. In this structure, students take an average of 6-7 hours per semester.
Online courses follow the "asynchronous group conferencing" model which allows students and instructors to individually access the course materials at a time most convenient to each of them. The weekly workload per course is comparable to that of a residential course. The group conferencing model the Conceptual and Social interaction of students and instructor around course materials, concepts, and activities. Courses are typically comprised of assigned reading and research, asynchronous dialogue forums, and written assignments and projects.
