This week WBS announced that Maribeth Gibson will be the new director of development for the seminary. Maribeth has spent almost two decades serving in development positions with various nonprofit organizations.

“I am personally pleased that Maribeth Gibson has agreed to join our staff as Director of Development,” said Dr. John Oswalt, interim president. “A life-long resident in the Jackson area, she brings a wealth of experience in fund-raising, having spent her career in this field in and around Jackson.”

Prior to joining WBS as director of development, Maribeth was participating in the Wesley Institute at WBS. Her experience as a student sparked her interest in working for the seminary.

Maribeth’s past development experience includes stints with Joni and Friends Mississippi, Methodist Children’s Homes of Mississippi, the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Jackson Academy. She is now ready to use her experience to further the mission of WBS.

“I am excited to be part of the team at WBS,” Maribeth said. “I have experienced the impact of the WBS faculty on my own life. And I can’t wait to share with supporters about how WBS is equipping students in Mississippi and around the world.”

Maribeth and her husband, Teddy, have been married for 32 years. Together they have three adult children–Catherine, Mary Paxton, Dalton. Maribeth and Teddy are active members of Christ United Methodist Church in Jackson, Miss.

“Maribeth is a great addition to the Wesley family,” Oswalt said. “She will be very helpful as we seek to find new friends committed to the Wesley Biblical vision.”
