Discipleship in the Home has been one of WBS’ most popular courses over the last two decades. It is based on the book by the same name by WBS professor Dr. Matt Friedeman.

The course will help you understand and implement an actionable plan to raise children or grandchildren with a strong personal faith who are ready to change the world.

Course Professor

Dr. Matt Friedeman brings a multi-faceted ministry to his teaching at Wesley where he has served since 1987. He has authored books on evangelism, discipleship, and methods of Bible study. He has written a regular newspaper column and been a talk-show host on American Family Radio. Dr. Friedeman regularly leads students in various types of outreach, such as prison ministry and ministry to the unborn. Matt is an ordained Nazarene minister who serves as the founding pastor of Day Spring Community Church in Clinton, Mississippi. He and his wife, Mary, have six children.

Course Content

This course covers the biblical, theoretical, and practical information you need to disciple your kids well.  In this course you will learn:

  • How to successfully plan for the first two decades of your child’s life in their journey toward Christlikeness
  • How to discipline well
  • The key rituals of successful Christian parenting
  • The pitfalls of disciple making and how they can be avoided
  • How to cultivate a healthy personal spiritual life to lead your family well
  • And much more!

By the end of this course, you will have a clear, actionable plan to make disciples in your family. Regardless of your background or experience, you will have the tools, concepts, and techniques to disciple your kids into a vibrant, lifelong relationship with Jesus.
