Biography

Dr. Vasser joined the faculty of Wesley Biblical Seminary in 2022 as an Adjunct Professor, and in 2023 he became an Assistant Professor of New Testament.
Dr. Vasser began his formal education at Cedarville University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2008). While working as a mechanical engineer at Northrop Grumman, Dr. Vasser responded to a call to pursue a vocation in ministry. He enrolled at Talbot School of Theology where he obtained a Master of Arts in New Testament Language and Literature (2012). From there, he moved to Asbury Theological Seminary where he completed a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies under leading NT scholars Dr. Ben Witherington III and Dr. Craig Keener (2021). His Ph.D. dissertation focused on slavery in the NT. Dr. Vasser is an active member of the Society of Biblical Literature and the Evangelical Theological Society.
Murray and his wife Ashlyn have three boys, Luke, Elliott, and Judah. They currently live in Madison, MS.
