Several students recently graduated from Wesley Biblical Seminary through the Shepherd Project program, which provides full-tuition scholarships for Majority World pastors and Christian leaders. Wesley Biblical Seminary students Raymond Tonui and Paul Lokol celebrated their graduation at the Africa Gospel Church’s conference in Kenya. The graduates were both awarded their degrees by Bishop Robert Langat, an alumnus of Wesley Biblical Seminary.

Tonui and Lokol were the second and third Shepherd Project graduates from Wesley Biblical Seminary. In May, 2017, Kennedy Kirui became the first Shepherd Project participant to graduate. All three Shepherd Project graduates have earned their Master of Arts in Christian Studies.

“We are incredibly proud of Raymond Tonui and Paul Lokol,” said Dr. Chris Lohrstorfer, vice president of academic affairs at Wesley Biblical Seminary. “We look forward to many more Shepherd Project students graduating from Wesley Biblical Seminary and transforming their nations with the gospel.”

Another Africa Gospel Church pastor, Stanley Langat, also finished his coursework through the Shepherd Project. He will receive his degree at Wesley Biblical Seminary’s graduation ceremony in May, 2018. Langat has served for 21 years as a cross-cultural missionary in Africa, and is preparing to step into a new role with the preparation he received through the Shepherd Project.

Langat thanked the supporters who have made the Shepherd Project possible. “I am forever grateful for the opportunity they gave me to be better equipped at WBS for greater ministry to the glory of God,” he said.

Dr. Lohrstorfer affirmed the connection between hands-on ministry around the world and the education that Wesley Biblical Seminary provides. “Wesley Biblical Seminary exists to prepare students like Raymond, Paul, and Stanley for effective ministry all around the world,” Lohrstorfer said. “The Shepherd Project is one of the many ways this seminary is accomplishing that mission.”
