A Wesley Biblical Seminary faculty member and student were honored at the 31st annual Higher Education Appreciation Day-Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE). At the annual event, which is hosted by the state of Mississippi, Dr. Matt Friedeman and Daniel Jackson were recognized alongside professors and students from across Mississippi.
“Matt and Daniel are incredible representatives of who we are at Wesley Biblical Seminary,” said Dr. Chris Lohrstorfer, vice president for academic affairs. “They embody our mission to train ministers of the gospel who are accomplished scholars and active ministers.”
Dr. Matt Friedeman, professor of evangelism and discipleship, was selected as this year’s outstanding faculty member from Wesley Biblical Seminary. He has taught at Wesley Biblical Seminary for more than 30 years. In addition to teaching, Dr. Friedeman is also pastor of DaySpring Community Church, a Nazarene congregation in Clinton, Miss.
Daniel Jackson was honored as this year’s outstanding student at Wesley Biblical Seminary. Daniel is the pastor of Burns Community Church in Burns, Miss. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Daniel is pursuing his Master of Divinity at Wesley Biblical Seminary.
“We are excited for the opportunity to recognize these two men,” Lohrstorfer said. “They are faithful and effective in the classroom and in the church.”
