Biography
Dr. Scott Engebretson brings together the strengths of a pastor, scholar, and educator. His roots with WBS run deep, as an alumnus of WBS (M.Div. ’05), and having served as a research assistant for Dr. John Oswalt, our esteemed emeritus Professor of Old Testament. He holds a ThM from Princeton Theological Seminary and PhD from Asbury Theological Seminary.
Scott served as an affiliate professor at WBS for five years before being appointed an assistant professor in 2026, teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in Old Testament, biblical theology, and ministry formation. His students consistently value his ability to connect rigorous scholarship with the life of the church.
Beyond the classroom, Scott has more than twenty years of ministry leadership experience, currently serving as lead pastor of Northwest Vineyard Church in Colorado. His experience includes church planting, discipleship systems, leadership development, and strategic organizational leadership. In his life and his teaching, Scott embodies the WBS mission to develop trusted leaders for faithful churches.
