Faculty Publish Sanctitas et Scriptura: Wesley Biblical Seminary’s Distinctive Expression of Biblical Wesleyanism
The words “Sanctitas et Scriptura,” or “holiness and Scripture,” are inscribed in the seal of Wesley Biblical Seminary. More than a symbol, however, these words have guided the doctrine and practice of the seminary for over 50 years.
Now, members of the WBS faculty have joined together to reaffirm these commitments through a fresh look at the seminary’s distinctive expression of biblical Wesleyanism.
Featuring contributions from Dr. Steve Blakemore, Dr. Murray Vasser, Dr. Rick Boyd, Dr. Chris Lohrstorfer, Dr. Matt Friedeman, and Dr. Andy Miller III, and edited by Dr. Vasser, the volume includes chapters on both the doctrines the seminary teaches and the practices it employs to live out those teachings.
Sanctitas et Scriptura positions the biblical Wesleyan movement within the full arc of church history—from the early church, to the Methodist revival, to the expansion of the American holiness tradition—and ultimately demonstrates the ongoing need for this vital expression of Christianity in our day.
“Our goal is not only to remind ourselves of our core beliefs, but to galvanize the further spread of the biblical Wesleyan movement around the world,” said President Miller. “My prayer is that God will use this book to bring about transformation in the lives of all who read it, as they ‘examine the Scriptures to see if these things are so’ (Acts 17:11).”
The book is available now on Amazon in both print and eBook formats.
