For the Summer 2016 Extended Edition of the WBS Compass, we interviewed Sarah Lee (MA ’08) about her ministry.

I have been serving as the director of children, youth and families at St. Peter’s UMC in Ocean City, NJ for five years. I’ve had the great privilege of watching my first generation of church kids go from infancy to kindergarten, from primary school to middle school, and from middle school to college! We are currently launching a new youth mentorship program called “Team 5:1,” the goal of which is to change the way we do church across generations. We have a dedicated youth ministry team, but the philosophy behind Team 5:1 is that the whole church is really the youth ministry team, and it takes cross-generational relationships to build lasting faith in our students. As a family, our weekly schedule is always in flux based on the church calendar, so we treasure quality time together. We Lees especially love to spend our family time hiking and camping. Jack and I would love prayers that we would consistently carve out the time to build memories with our kids, Jack Jack and Alison, and even more importantly than that, that we would be building a legacy of faith for them.

Follow the Lees and other alumni and members of our community in the WBS Compass!
