Wesley Biblical Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Murray Vasser to the position of Assistant Professor of New Testament Studies. Coming from Marion, Indiana, Dr. Vasser is married to Ashlyn and they have two boys Luke (4) and Elliot (2).

Dr. Vasser began his formal education at Cedarville University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (2008). While working for Northrup Grumman and NASA’s Ames Research Center as an aerospace engineer, Dr. Vasser responded to a call to pursue a vocation in ministry. He enrolled at Talbot School of Theology where he obtained a Master of Arts in New Testament Language and Literature (2012). From there, he moved to Asbury Theological Seminary where he completed his PhD in NT studies under leading NT scholars Dr. Ben Witherington III and Dr. Craig Keener. Dr. Vasser’s PhD focused on the household codes in Ephesians and Colossians. In addition to his PhD, Dr. Vasser has published numerous scholarly articles and has received six distinguished academic awards for his research.

The WBS Faculty entered a six-month search process that led to their “unanimous and enthusiastic” recommendation of Dr. Vasser to President Ayars and the Board of Trustees, who approved the faculty’s nomination. Dr. Ayars added that Dr. Vasser will provide “tremendous value to the institution and thrust us forward in optimizing effectiveness in fulfilling our God-given mission to develop trusted leaders for faithful churches.” Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Andy Miller, said, “Dr. Vasser’s passion for developing leaders for the church mixed with his own scholarly trajectory makes his hire an exciting moment in WBS’ history. I can’t wait to see the impact he makes for the kingdom through WBS.”

Please pray for Dr. Vasser and his family as they take on this new and exciting phase in their ministry starting July 1 of this year.
