The Global Methodist Church has announced that Wesley Biblical Seminary is now an approved seminary for anyone preparing for ministry in the new denomination. Ministers in the GMC can complete their full course of study at WBS.

“We are excited to partner with the GMC by training pastors and church leaders,” said Dr. Matt Ayars, president of WBS. “As a seminary grounded in the Wesleyan tradition and committed to the full authority of Scripture, we are ready to develop trusted leaders for faithful churches in the GMC.”

The course of study is available fully online at WBS—in both live and recorded formats. WBS allows students to complete their full master’s degree fully online, while ensuring that students also get to experience live video interaction with professors and fellow students in every course.

“We want to encourage students to prepare for God’s calling on their lives, while recognizing the importance of personal relationships in the educational process,” Ayars said. “Seminary is about far more than information transfer. It’s a formational process, whether online or in person.”

As the Global Methodist Church continues to add annual conferences around the nation and world, the growing number of GMC churches will need pastors who are trained by trusted institutions. Since 1974, WBS has trained men and women to be fully committed to the authority of Scripture and to the importance of holiness. The opportunity to train pastors for the GMC is an extension of that 50-year legacy.

“We have been serving the broader Wesleyan movement for our whole existence,” Ayars said. “The opportunity to partner with a brand-new denomination formed on the foundation of God’s truth and a missional commitment is a true blessing.”

WBS is the most affordable seminary of all those approved by the GMC. On average, the other GMC-approved seminaries cost 43% more per credit hour. Last year WBS reduced its tuition cost by 9% as many other institutions were increasing costs. The seminary made this move to help students facing financial pressure from inflation.

GMC students can also apply for a scholarship that will cover 33% of their tuition costs. The combination of the scholarship and affordable tuition make WBS an attractive option for GMC students pursuing their master’s degree. WBS also offers a full-tuition DMin scholarship for GMC elders and those on the elder track in Mississippi.

The courses completed towards a course of study can also be applied towards one of the master’s programs at WBS.
