Wesley Biblical Seminary is launching a Graduate Certificate in Islam and Ministry to Muslims. The certificate will prepare participants to understand Islam and engage with Muslims. The Graduate Certificate in Islam and Ministry to Muslims includes 8 classes, totaling 24 credit hours. A part-time student will be able to complete the program in only 4 semesters.
“In our globalized world, every Christian needs to understand how to minister to Muslims,” said Dr. Chris Lohrstorfer, vice president of academic affairs at Wesley Biblical Seminary. “This certificate is designed to prepare Christians who want to understand the Islamic tradition and evangelize among Muslims.”
The certificate is part of an ongoing partnership between Wesley Biblical Seminary and the Lilias Trotter Center to provide evangelical approaches to Islam and ministry in Muslim contexts. The certificate’s rigorous and practical curriculum provides the tools and insight necessary to effectively interact with Muslims and to contextually disciple them.
“This certificate is an expression of our mission to reach the world with the gospel,” Lohrstorfer said. “Anyone who has an interest in Islam can participate in this program and be equipped to minister to Muslims.”
Participants can complete the Graduate Certificate in Islam and Ministry to Muslims online. The flexible format allows full-time employees and people around the world to participate in the program. “We want everyone to have the opportunity to be equipped through this program,” Lohrstorfer said. “No matter what your background is, no matter where you are in the world, this is your chance to prepare for ministry to Muslims.”
All of the courses in the certificate can be applied towards a Master of Arts or Master of Divinity degree at WBS. The eight courses offered in the certificate are:
